MODEL RELEASED. Microwaved food contamination test. Researcher performing an experiment into the contamination of food by chemicals in its packaging when cooked in a microwave oven. She is placing food into the packaging before cooking. The box interiors have been sprayed with a marker chemical at a concentration similar to that of the contaminants found in the box; purple dye is used as a visual aid to show that the spraying has been even. The contaminants are organic chemicals from the packaging's ink. Research has shown that desi- gns which improve airflow through the packaging reduce food contamination.
