| Drug research on human tissue. Testing the effects of a drug on a tissue sample from the human colon (large intestine). The tissue is kept immersed in the drug being studied,a technique known as perfusion,and electrically stimulated by the wires around it. The sample's various properties are monitored to measure the effect of the drug on the tissue. Pharmagene,who are doing this research,believe that better results are produced by testing drugs for humans on human and not animal tissue. This idea is supported by animal rights groups.
