Scuba diver. Scuba diver swims alongside a coral reef. The diver is wearing a wetsuit and is carrying a tank of compressed air. 'Scuba' is an acronym for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, also known as the aqualung. It feeds air to the diver through valves which automatically ensure an air pressure equal to the outside water pressure. The wetsuit conserves the diver's body-heat. Coral reefs form the basis of extensive ecosystems. Corals themselves are tiny animals which live in colonies which build these familiar structures around themselves from calcium-rich secretions.
