DVD production. Worker operating machinery to copy data onto DVDs. The copying of data onto pre- manufactured CDs or DVDs is known as duplication,or 'burning' a CD or DVD. This is cheaper at low volumes than replication, which involves pressing the data onto the disc during the manufacturing process, though replicated discs are more durable. CDs and DVDs are optical discs that store data as a series of small depressions on a disc. The data is read from the disc using a laser. This Xpress system, using Plextor technology,is part of the 'DVD on Demand' system operated by Multi Media Replication. This company, based in Andover,Hampshire,UK,was founded in 1992. It introduced DVD services in 1999,and in 2004 it won an industry award for its 'DVD on Demand' system | |
