3D television display. Display from a video game as part of a demonstration of three-dimensional (3D) television. 3D television displays overlay two images that are slightly offset from each other. Optical equipment is used to view the resulting image. The optical equipment is usually special glasses worn by the viewer, but this glasses-free system, called alioscopy, uses a specially designed screen. The two images are combined in the brain, forming the desired 3D effect. The images on the screen appear to extend outwards towards the viewer. Alioscopy is an invention of Pierre Allio from France. The display is from one of the Lara Croft Tomb Raider games by Eidos | |
