Virtual reality car design. Man using a virtual reality (VR) machine to help in the design of car prototype,a process which is cheaper than build- ing an actual prototype. The man is sitting in a "seating buck",a car mock-up comprised of a seat, steering wheel, foot pedals and gear stick. The VR world is overlaid onto the "buck" & viewed through a headset; the images that he sees are displayed on the computer screen at top right. Gloves monitor the position of the operator's hands and allow him to interact with the car's VR dashboard and so make design recommendations.
