Wearable 'palm pilot' computer. Researcher Jennifer Healey of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),USA,wearing a prototype of the affective wearable computer that she is developing. Attached to her wrist and chest are electrodes and sensors which record her respiration and heart rate. These are recorded on the display of the 'palm pilot' she is holding. By recording factors such as heart beat, respiration & skin conductance the computer can assess the wearer's mood and stress levels. It can then trigger an appropriate response, such as playing music. The technology is being developed for educational as well as relaxation & leisure uses | |
