MODEL RELEASED. First programmable computer. Technician entering data into the first stored- program computer. This computer (called "Baby") ran the world's first program on 21 June 1948. It is being restored by a team from the Computer Conservation Society. It was developed at Manchester University,England,by Tom Kilburn and Freddie Williams. Data was entered on a set of buttons and switches. Baby is over 2 metres tall,and almost five metres wide,and stored information on the screen of a cathode ray tube.
