Chip manufacture. Technician in a clean room used for the development and manufacture of computer chips. The techician is wearing a protective suit to prevent production facility contamination. A curtain of air is blown over the face & vented out of the suit through a filter at the waist. Exposed computer chips are vulnerable to airborne dust and can be disabled by the slightest contamination. The air in the clean room is filtered to remove dust particles and its temperature & humidity are also regulated. In addition the chips are stored in boxes to give them further protection. Photo- graphed at an Intel factory; the class-1 cleanroom air has fewer than 35 particles per cubic metre | |
