Voltmeters. Digital (orange) and analogue voltmet- ers (galvanometers) used for measuring the electric potential or electromotive force (EMF) between two points in a electrical circuit. The potential or EMF represents the energy change of the electrons in the electric current as they flow from one point to another. Leads are attached to the terminals of the voltmeters and are placed at different points in the circuit. A large resistor in the voltmeter means that only tiny current flows through it and the leads. The exact size of the current is proportional to the EMF,so it can be measured to determine the electric potential | |
