NASA deep space network. Spacecraft-tracking radio antenna at Tidbinbilla near Canberra,Australia, that forms part of the NASA deep space network (DSN). This 34 metre (111 foot) diameter parabolic dish antenna is one of two at this station. Other antennae at Tidbinbilla include a 70 metre antenna, the largest, and a 26 metre antenna. Together they provide a radio link to track spacecraft that take part in deep space interplanetary missions,or track satellites orbiting the earth. Apart from this DSN station in Australia,NASA has identical stations in Spain and the USA. Combined these stations provide continuous 24 hour tracking of spacecraft | |
