Ring-pull mobile telephone. Designer Christopher Jung (born 1969) winding up a prototype of his ring-pull mobile telephone. This battery-free tel- ephone never needs charging from a mains supply. Pulling the cord a few times charges a generator in the disc-shaped telephone, which provides power for over five minutes of talking. The yellow circle on the telephone's surface is a pull-down microphone into which the user speaks. Dialling is done on the yellow keys around the disc's edge. Also, speaking a name into the microphone causes it to automatically dial their number from its address book. Jung designed this award-winning device while at University of Berlin,Germany | |
