Robot doll. Researcher interacting with Robota,a robotic baby doll. A camera allows the doll to observe movements, and its controlling artificial neural network (ANN) allows it to mimic them. It can also react to sound and touch,as well as computer and joystick commands. Its ANN enables it to learn, for example,to link mimicked movements to melodies to produce a dance response to music. It can also learn simple sentences in about 15 minutes. It is hoped that Robota will be used as an educational toy,and also in the study of learning and autism. The doll was created by Dr Aude Billard of the Robotics Lab of the University of Southern California,USA | |
