| Coal-fired power station. View of the Romerbrucke coal-fired power station reflected in the River Saar at night. One chimney can be seen at upper centre. This station burns coal to drive a steam turbine and generate electricity. Burnt coal is a source of carbon dioxide,a cause of global warming. However this plant uses fluidized bed technology which makes the coal burn much more efficiently.
