Power station. External view of a combined cycle gas turbine power station (CCGT). This installation generates electricity by means of gas turbines, producing about 700MW of power. A gas turbine consists of a compressor in which the gas (usually air) is compressed,a combustion chamber for heating the compressed air ,and a turbine. The hot compressed air turns the turbine, generating electricity. Gas turbines may run on a variety of fuels. Photographed at Rye House,Hertfordshire,UK | |
