| EDITORIAL USE ONLY. Biofuel research. Researchers examining samples of fermenting maize (Zea mays). The experiment is designed to find out which fermentation factor produces the best yield of ethanol,which will be used as a biofuel. The maize has been processed using an enzyme to break it up into a form more suited for fermentation. The ethanol produced in such a process is used in motor vehicles as an alternative to fuel obtained from oil deposits.
