| Splitter tower at an oil refinery. This unit is part of the hydrofining area. This is where crude oil products are processed to remove impurities such as sulphur. This equipment is part of a SCANfining unit that uses a proprietary catalyst system developed by ExxonMobil,together with Akzo Nobel. SCANfining (Selective Cat Naphtha hydrofining) uses a catalyst called RT-225. It minimises hydrogenation of olefins.
