Astronauts. American astronaut Shannon Lucid and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandyr Y. Kaleri prepare to move Lucid's cosmonaut space suit from the Russian Mir space station to the American space shuttle Atlantis. Lucid was returning to Earth on the shuttle after a six month stay on Mir. This was the longest-ever stay in space either by a woman or by an American astronaut. Her replacement was a fellow American,John E. Blaha. As well as exchanging the astronauts,the shuttle also delivered supplies to the space station.
