Space shuttle astroculture. Ukrainian astronaut Leonid Kadenyuk working on turnip (Brassica rapa) plants while on the Space Shuttle Columbia during mission STS-87 (19 November to 5 December 1997) in Earth orbit. The plants were grown to investigate their growth in reduced gravity. This will help future plans for cultivating plants in space.
