Medical tests in space. Astronaut Terence Henricks uses Shuttle Atlantis' rowing machine whilst astronaut Mario Runco prepares for his exertions. The rowing machine was adapted from the Shuttle treadmill after difficulties were experienced using it in 'running' mode. The modification allows heavy exercise to be undertaken. This is part of an on-going evaluation of the medical effects of extended periods of weightlessness. The rowing machine is also used for taking routine exercise.
