Shuttle launch. Launch of the space shuttle Endeavour from Cape Canaveral in Florida,USA,at the beginning of mission STS-89 on 22 January 1998. Aboard were astronauts Andrew S. W. Thomas,Terrence W. Willcut,Joe F. Edwards Jr.,Bonnie J. Dunbar,James F. Reilly and Michael P. Anderson. Representing the Russian Space Agency was Salizan S. Sharipov. During the mission,Endeavour docked with Mir,the Russian space station,and Thomas replaced David A. Wolf as the guest researcher on board.
