The bright elliptical galaxy near centre is NGC 1399,and below it is the smaller elliptical galaxy NGC 1404. To the right of NGC 1399 is NGC 1387,and to the right of that is NGC 1379. Above these two galaxies,at upper right,is the elongated NGC 1380. The Fornax cluster lies around 70 million light years from Earth.
