X-ray image taken with the Einstein Observatory satellite of the Hydra A Cluster of galaxies. The strength of the X-ray emission runs from red up to white for the brighter regions. The X-ray image does not show the single galaxies,as the optical images, but reveals a huge region of gas permeating all the cluster. The temperature of the gas is about 100 million degrees and is invisible except to the X-ray telescopes | |
