Spiral galaxy NGC 7331. Coloured optical image of the spiral galaxy NGC 7331. This galaxy lies around 50 million light years from Earth in the constellation Pegasus. The smaller galaxies visible in upper frame are thought to be members of a small galaxy cluster beyond NGC 7331,and are not associated with it. The spiral arms of NGC 7331 are mainly made up of hot young stars, while the nucleus mainly contains older, yellower stars.
