Spiral galaxy NGC 300. True-colour optical image of the spiral galaxy NGC 300 in the constellation Sculptor. This galaxy has a bright nucleus of older stars, and bluer, younger stars in its spiral arms. The diffuse white blobs visible in the arms are vast starbirth areas of hot, ionised gas.
