Planetary nebula NGC 6751. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of the planetary nebula NGC 6751. A planetary nebula is formed when a Sun-like star ejects its outer layers at the end of its life. These form bubbles and streamers of gas illuminated by radiation from the dying star (centre). The colours relate to temperatures here, ranging from blue (hottest) through orange to red (coolest). The nebula is about 0.8 light years wide. NGC 6751 lies around 6500 light years from Earth in the constellation Aquila.
