Taurus constellation. Constellation of Taurus the Bull with the bright star Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri) at lower left and the Pleiades or Seven Sisters star cluster at top right. The brightest stars at lower centre form a v-shaped feature which represents the bull's head; Aldebaran also represents the eye of the Bull. Aldebaran is a red giant star which is about 60 light years from Earth. All the stars seen within and near the v- shaped feature (except Aldebaran) form the Hyades open star cluster which,at 130 light years,is the nearest star cluster to the Solar System. Pleiades (M45) is a cluster of young, hot stars | |
