Sunset. The last portion of the solar disc sinking beneath the horizon. The solar radiation at sunset and sunrise must pass through an increasing mass of air which causes the Sun to dim and become reddened. The reddening is due to the presence of particulate matter in the atmosphere such as dust and aereosols. These particles scatter blue light more strongly than red light making the Sun and the nearby region red and the rest of the sky blue | |
