Silhouetted thunder clouds seen at sunrise from an orbiting Space Shuttle. The clouds are massive cumulonimbus, reaching as high as 10km into the atmosphere. At very high levels, the tops of the clouds are drawn out by stratospheric winds to form the classic 'anvil' shape.
