Saturn's moon Rhea,Cassini image. This is a false-colour image where the colour has been used to highlight variations in contrast across the surface. The contrast was enhanced by combining ultraviolet, green and infrared images of the surface. Rhea, which has a diameter of 1528 kilometres,is the second-largest of Saturn's moons. It is thought to have a rocky core, with the outer layers and surface made of water-ice. The surface temperature varies between minus 220 and minus 174 degrees Celsius. The surface is covered in craters and ice cliffs. This is the trailing hemisphere of Rhea. Image obtained on 18 January 2006 by the Cassini spacecraft's narrow-angle camera | |
