Water ice on Mars. Infra-red (left & centre) and visible (right) images of water and carbon dioxide ices at the southern pole of Mars. The polar ice cap is at the bottom of all three images. The pictures confirm the presence of water ice (dark blue,left image) and carbon dioxide ice (purple,centre image) on the planet. The ices appear turquoise in visible light.
