| Magellan mosaic radar image of the surface of the planet Venus,showing three large impact craters in a region of fractured plains. The craters have diameters ranging from 37 to 50 km and show many features typical of meteorite impact craters,including rough,radar-bright ejecta,terraced inner walls and irregular central peaks. The image shows an area approximately 500 x 500 kilometres,situated in the Lavinia region of Venus and centred on latitude 27 degrees south,longitude 339 degrees. The image strips which make up this mosaic were obtained between 15 September and 18 September,1990,and have a resoulution of about 120 metres | |
