Beagle 2 lander (lower left) photographed by the Mars Express spacecraft just after the two detached. This image was taken on 19th December 2003 at 10:33am,when Beagle 2 was about 20 metres from Mars Express. Beagle 2 is a British lander that will look for evidence of ancient life on the surface of Mars. It is due to land on Mars on 25th December. The small probe contains cameras that will provide panoramic views and microscopic studies of rocks. It will also analyse soil samples. The probes were launched in June 2003 | |
