Beagle 2 lander on the surface of Mars,computer illustration. This British probe will be carried to Mars on the European Space Agency's Mars Express mission. The small,disc-shaped probe unfolds after landing to expose its solar panels (blue). It carries an array of instruments designed to detect signs of past or present life on the surface of Mars.
