Mars Express spacecraft,computer illustration. This is a European Space Agency (ESA) spacecraft designed to study Mars. It comprises an orbiter and the British Beagle 2 lander (upper right). The orbiter will study Mars' atmosphere and search for water on its surface,as well as using spectroscopy to study the composition of its surface. The Beagle 2 lander will look for evidence of life on the surface by studying soil samples.
