Search for extraterrestrial life. A software engineer working with the new Multichannel Spectrum Analyser (MSA) radio receiver. MSA is part of the new Microwave Observing Project (MOP) set up by the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) institute. In the MOP several radio antennas across the world will perform an all sky survey which will cover frequencies from 1000 to 10,000 MHz. The MSA analyser is contained in a mobile unit which is flown to the sites involved in the observations. Thanks to its sophisticated sotware,MSA will be able to examine radio signals once per second in about fifteen million channels looking for an ET signal | |
