Light-intensity camera beneath its protective dome at the Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR),Alaska,USA. The telescope and attached instrumentation are used to measure the relative brightness of atmospheric and astronomical objects. The PFRR is primarily a launch facility for sounding (non- orbiting) rockets used in auroral research. Other equipment used at PFRR to research the Arctic atmosphere includes meteorological balloons and polar-orbiting satellites. This observing dome is situated on the roof of the Neil Davis Building of the Science Operations Center. PFRR is operated by the University of Alaska's Geophysical Institute and funded by NASA | |
