Regents Park observatory. This observatory, erected in 1836,was built by George Bishop near his home in Regents Park,London,UK. He hired observers to operate the equipment, which included a 7 inch Dollond refractor. Among the observers were the German explorer Eduard Vogel and Britishastronomer William Rutter Dawes. Bishop never made observations himself but fully credited his employees for their discoveries. Under his patronage a set of accurate Ecliptical Charts were made. The observatory closed when the Bishop died in 1861,and the instruments are now at the Royal Observatory of Naples in Italy | |
