Inuit man. Illustration of Ervick,an Inuit man, wearing traditional clothes. The Inuit are an aboriginal people who are distributed through Siberia,Alaska,Canada and Greenland. They have evolved several physical characteristics to adapt to the cold. "Inuit" means "the people"; the other word sometimes used to describe them,"Eskimo",is an insult to them because it means "eater of raw flesh". The Inuit language has a complex structure & varies from area to area, making it one of the world's hardest for outsiders to learn.
