| Eskimo igloos. Illustration of a village of igloos with Eskimos greeting a European explorer. Igloos are domed structures made from "bricks" of comp- acted snow. The snow contains pockets of air which makes it an excellent heat insulator,allowing the air inside to be several degrees above freezing. The Eskimos,or Inuit,are an aboriginal people who show physical adaptations to living in the cold. They are distributed through Siberia,Alaska,Canada and Greenland.
