Athlete movement research. Naked torso of a male athlete with attached reflective tags used in three-dimensional motion analysis. The athlete performs actions in a room equipped with 12 cameras. Laser lights shine on the reflectors from the cameras. Each reflector is highly directional, allowing the camera to discern its exact position. A computer then combines results from all of the reflectors into a three-dimensional image, allowing researchers to study body movements in detail. This may allow athletes to improve their techniques at a variety of sports. System designed by Oxford Metrics for the Department of Sports Science,University of Wales at Swansea,Wales | |
