Beauty perception. Composite computer image of the face of an average Caucasian woman. This image is 1st of three testing what constitutes attractive- ness in women. Here,60 faces from UK women are combined to show a face representing a population average. Panels of subjects compared this image with an attractive female face (see: P870/085),and then enhanced attractiveness (P870/086) which was preferred. Scientists conclude that beautiful faces do not have average features. Features which represent youthfulness and fertility are preferred. Beauty appears to have a biological explanation, which crosses cultural boundaries | |
