Lymph vessels. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a resin cast of lymph vessels. Lymph vessels carry lymph away from the tissues,to the lymph nodes and then back into the general circulation. Lymph nodes are areas where the white blood cells of the body's immune system aggregate to remove pathogens and foreign bodies from the lymph fluid. The cast was made by injecting resin into the lymph vessels, followed by chemical digestion of the surrounding tissues. Magnification: x27 at 6x7cm size | |
