Physical examinations will test the sample's colour, concentration and cloudiness. Microscopic analysis can reveal if any blood cells are present in the urine (a sign of kidney malfunction). Culture tests from a patient with a urinary infection can reveal the nature of the infective organism. A range of chemical tests can reveal if any aberrant substances are present in the urine.
