MODEL RELEASED. Petri dishes. Technician examining a petri dish containing a streaked culture of microorganisms growing on an agar gel. The culture was grown from samples smeared across the gel. The microorganisms in the sample feed on the nutrients in the agar gel, multiplying to form pure colonies. These colonies can then be removed and analysed. This researcher is looking for the growth of anaerobic organisms which grow in the absence of oxygen. He is working in an incubation room which is held at 37 degrees celsius, the same temperature as a human body. Photographed at Tameside Hospital in Britain | |
