Antibiotic resistance in E.coli. Demonstration of a sensitivity test to antibiotic drugs in the bacterium Escherichia coli. Here, the petri dish contains a culture of bacteria which appears grey on the surface of the growth medium. Six white pellets of various types of antibiotic are seen. Around four of the pellets there is a lack of bacterial growth (inhibition zones),indicating that the bacteria are sensitive to the antibiotic drugs. Two remaining pellets, however, are completely surrounded by Escherichia coli showing that the bacteria are resistant to these pellets of antibiotic.
