MODEL RELEASED. Haematoma. Swollen scrotum of a 14 year old boy caused by a haematoma after the boy fell off his bike. A haematoma is an accumulation of clotted blood within the tissues resulting from a ruptured blood vessel. Here this has resulted in swelling and redness of the scrotum. The accumulated blood presses on the surrounding tissues which can cause considerable pain. In painful cases the haematoma may be lanced and drained by a doctor, although most clear up naturally within a few days. Antibiotics can be given to treat infected cases | |
