Thermogram of a varicocele in the right side of the human scrotum. A varicocele is a collecion of dilated veins in the spermatic cord which is often associated with a low sperm count (oligospermia) sufficient to cause infertility. In this image, the right side of the scrotum appears swollen and inflamed and displays a pattern of increased temperature over the normal left side. The colour- coding ranges from white (warm) to blue (cool),with each colour representing a step of 0.5 degrees C. The green temperature reference disc is calibrated at 32 degrees C. Compare with M865/035,which shows the scrotum after surgical correction | |
