MODEL RELEASED. Mother visiting her three-month- old baby in a hospital paediatric intensive care unit. The baby is being fed via a nasal-gastric tube. He is suffering from necrotising enterocolitis,a disease which inflames & destroys bowel tissue. Most of the baby's bowel has been surgically removed and he has been given a jejunostomy,an operation in which the jejunum (the centre section of the small intestine) is brought through the abdominal wall,creating an artifical opening through which the intestines discharge.
