Test tube triplets. Healthy,non-identical baby triplets born as a result of In-Vitro Fertility (IVF) treatment. The babies consist of two boys and a girl. Three babies resulted from this pregnancy because more than one egg was fertilised. During IVF treatment, the prospective mother is given drugs which make her produce several eggs (ova). These ova are then fertilised outside of her body using a sperm sample. Three or four of these eggs are then tranferred back into the woman's womb in the hope that at least one will implant. Sometimes,as in this case, more than one does | |
